Thousands of MSPs are exposed on the Internet and don’t know it.
Because of their visible nature, MSP tools are often easy targets for attackers. By searching for a single popular RMM tool in Shodan, you can find 7,000+ MSPs. The risk of a zero-day attack increases significantly with this level of surface exposure.
Database Tuner is a plugin for Automate that dynamically adjusts MySQL to perform optimally for ConnectWise Automate.
The plugin works by scaling various components of MySQL based on the maximum connections variable and live performance data. All the adjustments are done in real time without the need to bring the database offline. The performance tune is run every 12 hours to ensure that the database is always optimally configured. The plugin also offers messages advising if additional resources are needed based on the size of the database, as well as the option to put the database back to the default settings.

Given the complexity and potential for disruption, I was initially apprehensive about the ConnectWise Automate server migration. However, I am thrilled to say that our experience with Automation Theory was outstanding. Jeremy and the team handling the migration not only met but exceeded our expectations. The morning after our migration, we encountered zero issues, and we are extremely pleased with our decision to have Automation Theory complete this migration.
We cannot express enough gratitude to Automation Theory for their incredible support during the recent CrowdStrike bug that took down half of the internet. Our MSP was impacted, with all our clients’ endpoints and our ConnectWise Automate server experiencing a BSOD. This outage brought our operations to a halt. After remediating the BSOD on our Automate server, we weren’t able to get Automate to start, with the LabMySQL service crashing consistently.
Our consultant did this migration so fast we were left dizzy, in a good way! Everything went exactly as planned, and none of our techs even noticed any downtime. I am as happy as anyone can possibly be happy. 🙂
Jeremy jumped into a priority issue for us last week and performed amazingly….. He got us back up and running in a matter of hours. Jeremy is amazing and we will be formalising our relationship as a result of Jeremy’s knowledge, skills and commitment.Well done Jemery!
Do you need a WAF for ConnectWise PSA, or other cybersecurity hardening? In short, yes! In this blog post, we’ll explore the attack surface and defense techniques for ConnectWise PSA (aka ConnectWise Manage, or just “ConnectWise,” depending on how long you’ve been in the industry).
CloudFlare, the popular security services provider, probably isn’t a good choice for your MSP tools. Here at Automation Theory, we’ve seen the whole spectrum of security options for MSP tools. While their services are easy to use, several things lacking in the CloudFlare offering make
ConnectWise Automate firewall ports have changed over the years, and many partners still have ports open that aren’t required (or are dangerous to have open). Since the guidance has changed over the years, we wanted to create an updated guide that covers how the protocols
It’s been six months since the CVSS 10 ScreenConnect vulnerability (CVE-2024-1709), and now that the dust has settled, it’s a prime opportunity to glean go-forward security insights from lessons learned during the incident. Below, we’ll walk through five lessons each MSP should review and consider
